BEA Sand Inoculum is a starter culture of marine benthic organisms and associated bacterial consortia.

It allows you to populate the system with a diverse pool of detritivorous and algivorous organisms and associated bacterial consortia, which are essential for maintaining the system’s proper balance.

Content

Live sand, mature benthic organisms and associated bacterial communities (spaghetti worms, fireworms, tube worms, feather duster worms, copepods, gammarids and other species of small crustaceans).

The species composition may vary from one inoculum to another depending on the natural availability of organisms at the time of collection; however, the overall quantity and concentration of the inoculum remain constant.

Effectiveness

1) Promote system stability and the breakdown of debris, algal films, and sludge.

2) Populate rocks, DSB, and refugium.

Features and format

1 bag of 500 ml of water, live sand, and associated organisms.

Dosage

Place the entire contents of the bag in the aquarium or refugium, including the water.

If possible, do this with the lights off and the skimmer or return pump turned off for about an hour.

    • PRODUCT DESCRIPTION


    BEA SAND INOCULUM is a high-density biological starter made of calcium carbonate sand colonized by a rich community of living benthic organisms and specialized bacterial consortia. Its use helps accelerate the biological maturation of the system and provide stability from the earliest stages of setup.

    This product provides multiple benefits:

    • Introduces detritivorous organisms that are essential for recycling organic matter.

    • Enriches the substrate with bacteria already adapted to life in the sediment interstices.

    • Promotes bioturbation and proper oxygenation of the sand bed.

    • Provides a natural source of benthic plankton.

    The bacterial consortia in the inoculum come from well-matured, healthy sandy substrates, ensuring the introduction of a stable microbial community that is already efficient in the main biogeochemical processes (nitrification, denitrification, and detritus degradation). Not all inoculated organisms will be visible to the naked eye right away, but in the following weeks you will be able to observe their positive effects on the system’s balance and vitality.

    We use pure calcium carbonate sand, and its light color is due to the material’s natural composition, not to a lack of colonization or its recent introduction into our systems. At our facilities, each batch is carefully matured over a very long period to ensure high effectiveness and proper colonization.

    BEA SAND INOCULUM is ideal for enriching refugiums, DSBs, SSBs, and for starting marine reef aquariums.

    L’inoculum includes benthic organisms that are detritivores associated with natural substrates and benthic communities.

    • HOW TO USE


    Pour the entire contents of the pouch into the aquarium or refugium, including the water.

    If possible, do this with the lights off and the skimmer or return pump turned off for about an hour.

    • STORAGE


    The products inside the package are carefully packed and protected for transport, both during the cold season and the warmer season, and are prepared to travel safely even for several days.


    The product cannot be stored beyond the delivery date.
