BEA ECO-SAND sand has been designed to provide a substrate that combines aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility. Its light, natural color gives the aquarium a beautiful, bright appearance that enhances corals and fish, recreating the look of reefs and tropical lagoons.

From an ethical standpoint, this is an ecological, environmentally friendly, and sustainable product, made using processes with a reduced human impact. Producing BEA ECO-SAND sand helps reduce the extraction of natural resources, allowing aquarium hobbyists to choose a thoughtful solution that respects marine ecosystems.

Its composition is based on calcium carbonate naturally rich in magnesium and trace elements, which provide natural benefits and support the development of benthic microfauna and bacterial colonization—key elements in maintaining the aquarium’s biological balance.

In terms of grain size, BEA ECO-SAND sand ranges from 0.4 to 1.7 mm, selected to ensure a good balance between appearance, permeability, and sand-bed stability.

The grain morphology was assessed using the Powers/Pettijohn scale, placing the sand in the sub-angular range, with an angularity index of 0.4–0.6. This means that the grains are predominantly rounded, with smoothed edges that provide:

• greater colonization by microfauna and benthic organisms,
  
• an adequate surface for microbial colonization,
  
• a reduced tendency to compact and lasting substrate stability.

To calculate the amount of sand needed in kg, calculate the volume of the sand layer and multiply it by 1.5.


Practical example
50×50 cm aquarium with 3 cm of sand:
50×50×3 = 7500
7500 ÷ 1000 = 7.5 L
7.5L × 1.5 = approximately 11 kg of sand.

• INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Rinse thoroughly before use.
Spread evenly over the bottom of the tank to achieve the desired depth.
